Rangers have signed defender Filip Helander from Bologna. Helander will sign a four-year deal with the transfer fee around £3.5 million.
“I am very excited and very happy to be here.”
At 6’4, Helander is a combative and strong performer who has experience of playing at the highest level, and is a regular in the Swedish international team. “I am strong defensively and tactically, good in the one v one and have quite a good left-foot.”
He said: “I knew Rangers were a big club and I have seen them in the European tournaments, as well as watching Old Firms.”
“The opportunity to work with a manager like Steven Gerrard was an easy decision to make.”
“European football was also one of the reasons why I wanted to come here to be able to play in the European cups again. I have played at quite a high level for a long time and I think even though I am 26 I have a lot of experience and hopefully I can bring that to the team. I am a team player and will always give everything for the team and I think we need that mentality here.”
